A TRUE HERO



Lora Joye McPherson
Lora Joye McPherson 1980 ~ 2008 FRUIT HEIGHTS - Lora Joye McPherson, 27, returned home to Heavenly Father on Jan. 21, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. She passed away in her sleep at home surrounded by family. Lora was born to Oliver Lee and Nancy Joye Saunders McPherson on March 12, 1980 in Kirkland, WA. Lora's greatest joys were spending time with family, exercising, playing piano, crocheting, gardening, and serving others. Lora was an active member of the LDS Church. She loved the gospel and Jesus Christ. She lifted others with the strength of her spirit. She overcame many health problems in her life, including several types of cancer- but Lora never lost her smile. After graduating from Davis High and LDS Seminary, Lora received degrees from Weber State and Brigham Young University. Lora is survived by her parents; her siblings, Lamont (Jenn), Shauna, Eric (Keesha), Marci (Dan) Dorman, Jared (Chrissa), and Heather (Shayne) Taylor; her grandmother, Berniece Loughton Saunders; her five nieces; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Awaiting her in heaven are her brother, Arthur, and three grandparents: Albert G. Saunders and Arthur and Lorna Hull McPherson. Funeral services will be held Fri., January 25, 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel at 901 S. Mountain Rd., Fruit Heights. Friends and family may call on Thurs. 6-8 p.m. and Fri. 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lora McPherson BYU Scholarship Fund at Zion's Bank.
